DSFA Social Inclusion Learning Network
An initial one day meeting of a social inclusion learning network took place in the Gresham Hotel on the 1st June 2006. In total over 70 participants attended the seminar including D/SFA staff who are members of Area Implementation Teams (AITs) under RAPID and CLAR, relevant staff from scheme sections and staff who signalled their interest in participating in a learning network in response to the OSI questionnaire.
- The objectives of a DSFA social inclusion learning network are:
- To grow awareness of OSI, the National Action Plan against Poverty and Social Exclusion (NAP/inclusion) and the role of D/SFA staff in delivering on its commitments
- To provide support to D/SFA staff in carrying out their Social Inclusion role
- To provide an opportunity for staff to share experiences and highlight examples of best practice and
- To create linkages between AIT reps and an understanding of the available funding streams within the Department.
- The aims of initial one day seminar were:
- To provide initial information to participants about social inclusion related activity within the Department
- To provide participants with an opportunity to network
- To provide practical support to DSFA staff engaged in social inclusion activity and
- To allow participants to influence the way forward in relation to the development of a social inclusion learning network
- The format for the day was:
- An opening plenary session with a number of short inputs from relevant speakers (see agenda)
- Four afternoon workshops
- Topics for discussion at the workshops were:
- The social inclusion role of the AIT rep/DSFA staff member, including
- What is working
- What is not working
- What could be done better/supports etc. required
- Brainstorming re: future approach to a DSFA social inclusion learning network
