Preparation of Ireland's new National Action Plan for Social Inclusion 2007-2016'Building an Inclusive Society' NAPinclusionEU Member States are no longer required to prepare on a regular basis a National Action Plan against Poverty and Social Exclusion. However Ireland has committed itself to preparing a new National Action Plan for Social Inclusion which was published and launched by the Taoiseach, Tanaiste and Minister for Social Affairs on 21 February 2007. The OSI has responsibility for the development, monitoring and implementation of this Plan. The new strategic framework aims to achieve a more comprehensive and efficient monitoring process. This will ensure that reporting is streamlined, following the framework of Towards 2016 and encompassing the NAPinclusion, Ireland's social inclusion input to the National Report on Strategies for Social Protection and Social Inclusion (NSSPI) and the social inclusion aspects of the National Development Plan 2007-2013 Transforming Ireland. The key element in this social inclusion monitoring and evaluation process will be the preparation by OSI, of the annual Social Inclusion Report which will review progress against targets on an annual basis, identify any new issues arising which might benefit from a more co-ordinated approach and report on stakeholders’ views emerging from various fora.
