The Irish Research Council has just announced the call for the 2013 Social Protection Research Innovation Awards (SPRIA)under the IRC Research Project Grants Scheme.
The SPRIA awards are financed by the Department of Social Protection through the Irish Research Council (IRC) to stimulate policy relevant research in higher education institutes.
The ) are designed to:
- Inform the future development of social protection policies in line with the Programme for Government and the Europe 2020 Strategy.
- Build research capacity and knowledge on social protection issues.
- Engage with core challenges facing the Department (and the Government) in this time of economic crisis.
- An active inclusion approach to lone parents
- Summer School: Challenges and opportunities for social protection policy in post-recession Ireland
- The social impact of gambling in Ireland
Themes 1 and 3 are for social policy research projects of €45,000 each, with a maximum duration of 15 months. The summer school of up to €10,000, to be held in Q2 or Q3 2014, is intended for academics and researchers in social protection, senior management in the Department of Social Protection and other relevant Government Departments, and other stakeholders who inform policymaking and social policy developments, including experts in NGOs, Government bodies and policy advisers.
